Ty Pennington Parents: Meet Yvonne Burton

Ty Pennington is an American television host, carpenter, and designer.  He is the son of Yvonne Burton.

His mother Yvonne divorced Ty’s father when Ty and his older brother Wynn were very little, and she was a single parent for several years before remarrying. Both boys were adopted by her new husband, who gave them the surname Pennington.

Ty Pennington first rose to fame as the energetic carpenter and designer on the TLC series “Trading Spaces,” which aired from 2000 to 2008.  However, Ty Pennington became widely recognized for his role as the host of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” which aired from 2003 to 2012.

Beyond his television work, Pennington has authored books on home improvement and design, including “Good Design Can Change Your Life” and “Ty’s Tricks: Home Repair Secrets Plus Cheap and Easy Projects to Transform Any Room.”

In recent years, Pennington has continued his television career, appearing as a host, designer, and mentor on various shows. He hosted the second season of the HGTV renovation competition series Rock The Block, which began on March 8, 2021, and will remain in that capacity for season 3, which will broadcast in early 2022.
