Ream was born on October 5, 1987, in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, and currently plays for the Premier League club Fulham.

He was first drafted by the New York Red Bulls in 2010, in the second round of the MLS Super Draft, and went ahead to spend four seasons with the team, appearing in more than 100 games.
In January 2012, Ream transferred to Bolton Wanderers in the English Football League Championship, where he played for seven seasons and made over 200 appearances.
Ream has additionally played for other clubs such as St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Saint Louis Billikens, and Chicago Fire Premier.
Ream made his soccer debut for the United States national team in 2010, representing the country in various competitions, including the CONCACAF Gold Cup and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
