Neil Sedaka is a singer-songwriter and pianist known for writing the hit song “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo.”

Sedaka’s music career began in the 1950s, and has so far sold millions of records worldwide, across the pop, brill building, rock and roll, doo-wop genres.

Some of his early hits include “Oh! Carol”, “Calendar Girl”, “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen”, “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”, “Laughter in the Rain” and “Bad Blood”.

He additionally wrote songs such as “Stupid Cupid” (Connie Francis), “Love Will Keep Us Together” (Captain & Tennille), and “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo” (Tony Christie), which won him the Guinness World Records for “the most successful UK single of the 21st century.”

In 1983, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 2006, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.

He has also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and holds an Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award.
