Neil Sedaka is a renowned singer-songwriter who since the 1950s, has released several hits across the pop, brill building, rock and roll, doo-wop genres.

Sedaka was born on March 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, and is known for writing the hit song “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo”.

Sedaka’s music career began in the 1950s, and has so far sold millions of records worldwide.

Some of his early hits include “Oh! Carol”, “Calendar Girl”, “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen”, “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”, “Laughter in the Rain” and “Bad Blood”.

Sedaka additionally wrote songs such as “Stupid Cupid” (Connie Francis), “Love Will Keep Us Together” (Captain & Tennille), and “(Is This the Way to) Amarillo” (Tony Christie), which won him the Guinness World Records for “the most successful UK single of the 21st century.”

In 1983, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 2006, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.

Sedaka has also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and holds an Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award.
