He last played college baseball as an outfielder for the Arizona Wildcats, where he appeared in 27 games as a freshman, starting one and “hitting a .233 average in 30 at-bats with five runs scored, three doubles, one triple, and four RBIs.”
Subsequently, Davis played summer baseball for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League, as well as the United States collegiate national team. His performance had earned him a nomination for the Golden Spikes Award.
In his second season with the Wildcats, Davis started 62 of 63 games as an outfielder, and “hit .289 with 56 runs scored, 13 doubles, 18 home runs, and 54 RBIs.” His senior season had been canceled due to COVID-19.
