Marcus Semien currently plays as a shortstop and second base for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He formerly played for the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball.

He was an All-Star with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021, winning the Gold Glove Award as well as the Silver Slugger Award. Semien attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he played college baseball for the California Golden Bears.
In 2011, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the sixth round of the MLB Draft. Semien made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the White Sox in 2013. In 2019, he had a standout season, finishing third in the American League MVP voting.
