Who was John Deyle? American Broadway Actor Dead at 68

John Deyle was an American Broadway actor who played Bret Brat in the production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 1996 and did three tours of Camelot in various roles, including Forest Merlyn. Off-Broadway, he appeared as Frankie Cavalier in Pageant, and as Hucklebee in the 2006 revival of The Fantasticks.

He died of esophageal cancer in Mount Kisco, New York, on June 22, 2023. He was 68 years old.

In 1978, when auditioning for the Richard Rodgers and Martin Charnin musical I Remember Mama, Charnin decided to instead cast him in the original Broadway production of Annie. A member of the third-year cast, which featured Sarah Jessica Parker in the title, Deyle played Louis However, Fred McCracken, and Bert Healy.

Aside from Broadway, he also made several movie appearances. Some of them include One True Thing, Before and After, Wall Street, The Rewrite, Tio Papi, Wirey Spindell, and more.

Deyle was survived by his wife of 32 years; Rebecca Dyle, their son, Oleg Deyle, and his sister, Kathryn.
