Adam DeVine is an American actor, comedian, singer, writer, and producer. The actor was in a wheelchair due to an accident he suffered as a child.
Devine was 11 years old when he walked his bicycle across a road in Omaha in June 1995. He was in the roadway after waiting for three cement trucks to pass. A fourth truck, which he had not noticed due to traffic in the opposite direction, struck him.
The  front wheels of the 42-ton truck rolled over him, sending him sliding 500 feet (150 metres). He was knocked out, suffered severe shock, and went into a coma. He was sent to intensive care and awoke two weeks later.

He’d broken all of the bones in both of his legs, had a collapsed lung, and had acquired several infections, and it was unclear whether he’d ever walk again. He had 26 surgeries over the course of several years and spent much of his time in a wheelchair.

Devine was at a high risk of having his legs amputated and experiencing multiple organ failure due to the severity of his injuries. It was revealed that he was not killed because his bicycle took the full force of the truck.
