Martin Stevens (musician) cause of death – Quebecois disco singer Martin Stevens passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the age of 69. According to exclusive information obtained by TVA Nouvelles, the 69-year-old musician succumbed to a pulmonary disease on Wednesday morning in Gaspé.

Born Roger Prud’homme, Stevens rose to superstardom in his twenties with hit songs like “J’aime la musique” (1976), “Love Is in the Air” (1978), and “Midnight Music” (1979), all of which topped the charts.

Stevens’ self-titled debut album, issued in 1978, was entirely composed of French material, with the exception of his version of Vanda & Young’s “Love Is in the Air.”

His rendition of “Love is in the Air” debuted on the Canadian charts in July 1978 and had already reached #21 by September 9, the week when John Paul Young’s more widely known version was released.

Stevens was a two-time Juno Award contender for Best Selling Single, garnering nominations in 1979 for “Love Is in the Air” and in 1980 for “Midnight Music.”

Fans couldn’t get enough of Stevens’ captivating songs and exuberant performances, and his influence on the disco movement was clear.

His songs had a way of getting people on their feet and grooving to the beat. Many still reminisce about the golden era of disco and the impact Stevens had in shaping its soundscape.

In 2007, Martin Stevens unveiled a revealing biography titled “Sexe, drogue et disco” (Sex, Drugs, and Disco), where he shared captivating anecdotes of his jet-set lifestyle during the prime of his career. The book offered a glimpse into Stevens’ world of glamour and the ever-enticing allure of fame.
