Born in New South Wales to Kassandra Ewan, a Korean mother, and Mark Ewan, an Australian father, Ewan started bicycle racing at the age of eight — drawing inspiration from his father, who was a competitive cyclist.

At age 10, Ewan started cycling competitively.

In October 2013, he signed pre-contract terms with Orica–GreenEDGE, joining the World Tour team as a stagiaire in August 2014 and as a professional in October.

His first professional victories came in the second and third stages of the 2015 Herald Sun Tour. A month later, in the Tour de Langkawi, he then took his second professional win and the lead in the general classification.

He was the “lanterne rouge” of the 2022 Tour de France, having finished over 5 hours down on overall winner Jonas Vingegaard.

Ewan has a similar style of riding to Mark Cavendish — they both take an extremely low position that offers them an aerodynamic advantage.

Caleb is in Tour de France 2023 and has his sights set on the €500,000 ($542,140/£428,354) prize money.

Last year, he got through all 21 stages of the Tour de France without a single podium place to show for it.

However, in the ongoing 2023 edition, it has taken just one sprint to make it to those steps, leaving the Australian looking forward to the rest of the Grand Tour with a degree of optimism that a win is coming.
