Vera Farmiga Ex-Husband: Meet Sebastian Roché

Sebastian Roché, an actor, is mostly known as the ex-husband of Vera Farmiga. Farmiga as Jocelyne Jordan in the 2004 political thriller The Manchurian Candidate, alongside Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep.

The next year, she co-starred with Aaron Eckhart and Ian McKellen in the fantasy drama Neverwas, which premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival. Farmiga then co-starred with Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon in Martin Scorsese’s crime film The Departed (2006) as police psychiatrist Dr. Madolyn Madden.

Her work as Madolyn got her an Empire Award nomination for Best Newcomer, and she and her co-stars were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Work by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Soon after, she landed the role of Dr. Charlie Brooks in the independent thriller The Hard Easy, released in 2006.

She went on to play Teresa Gazelle in Wayne Kramer’s murder thriller Running Scared and Oana in Anthony Minghella’s romantic crime drama Breaking and Entering (both in 2006). Farmiga went on to play Sophie Lee in Gina Kim’s love film Never Forever, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007.

The San Francisco Chronicle’s G. Allen Johnson described her as an “undiscovered American actress of great talent.” She also starred as Abby Cairn in the psychological thriller Joshua (2007) and as Fiona Ankany in the 2008 Sundance Film Festival drama Quid Pro Quo.

Sebastian Roché, a French-American actor, was born on August 4, 1964. His roles as Kurt Mendel in Odyssey 5, Jerry Jacks in General Hospital, Thomas Jerome Newton in Fringe, Balthazar in Supernatural, Mikael in both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and Reichsminister Martin Heusmann in The Man in the High Castle have all garnered him praise for his acting.

Roché made his acting debut alongside Ian McShane and Val Kilmer in the television movie The Murders in the Rue Morgue. The CBS network aired this movie on December 7, 1986.

He attained roles in French television and film in the late 1980s, appearing in shows like Bonjour maître (1987) and The Hitchhiker (1989–1991) as well as films like Adieu je t’aime (1988), La Queue de la comète (1988), La Révolution française (1989), and A Woman’s Revenge (1990).

Roché also has a solid background in classical theater, having performed in productions such as Salome (1992) at the Circle in the Square Theatre with Al Pacino, Titus Andronicus (1994) at the Theatre for a New Audience under Julie Taymor’s direction, Macbeth (1994) at the Classic Stage Company under Jack Stehlin’s direction, and Arms and the Man (1995) in Hartford, Connecticut, under Mark Lamos’ direction.
