TV star David Thewlis has dated Welsh director and actress Sara Sugarman, whom he was married to for two years during the early 1990s.

After his divorce, Thewlis went ahead to date English actresses Kate Hardie, and Anna Friel, with whom he had a daughter.

After all failed relationships, Thewlis began dating French designer Hermine Poitou, whom he later married in 2016. The duo now live in Sunningdale, Berkshire.

David Thewlis is a British actor, best known for his role as Remus Lupin, a werewolf and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, in the “Harry Potter” film series.

Born on March 20, 1963, in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, Thewlis appeared in several of the Harry Potter franchise movies, beginning with “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” (2004), to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” (2011).

Apart from his work in the “Harry Potter” series, Thewlis has had a successful acting career for decades.

He has appeared in many other films and TV series  including Naked, The Big Lebowski, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, Wonder Woman, Fargo, and Big Mouth.

In 2025, Thewlis will starr as Peylak in the upcoming American epic science fiction film Avatar 3 & Avatar 4.
