Who Is Merih Demiral?
Merih Demiral is a football centre-back who plays for Serie A club Atalanta.
The Turkish-born player is known for his uncommon defensive skills, and is regarded as one of Turkey’s best defensive players.

Demiral made his debut for Turkey in 2018, and has since represented the country’s national team in international matches, including the UEFA European Championship.

His football career began with him playing for the youth club Fenerbahçe in Turkey before moving to Portugal to join the youth academy of Sporting CP.
Demiral made his professional debut for the Portuguese club Alcanenense, in 2016. The following year, he joined the Italian club Al Sassuolo.
In 2019, Demiral moved to Juventus, where he showcased more of his defensive skills, but at the beginning of the 2020 season, he was sidelined for months due to a knee injury.
He began playing for Atalanta in 2022, after agreeing to a four-year contract set to expire in 2026.
