In April 1953, his mother, Lavinia Pollock, married his father, Frank Castle. Andrew was born in the year 1963. He got a tennis scholarship to Millfield School in Somerset, but his parents divorced when he was 15, and he had to leave.

He went to Kansas on another scholarship. Castle’s father owned a fishmonger’s shop in Westerham, Kent, where his customers included Winston Churchill’s wife Clementine, the lady of adjacent Chartwell House. He went on to own businesses in North Cheam, Norbury, Stoneleigh, Surrey, and Taunton, Somerset (Kingston Road).

After retiring from tennis, Castle became a presenter on the now-defunct ITV breakfast show GMTV between 2000 and 2010, sharing duties with Ben Shephard to present its weekday magazine series. He began anchoring the ITV daytime game show Divided in 2009. Castle began presenting on LBC in 2013.
