Tom Glavine Parents: Meet Mildred Glavine, Fred Glavine

Tom Glavine is a former American professional baseball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest left-handed pitchers in the history of Major League Baseball (MLB).

He is the son of Mildred Glavine and Fred Glavine. His father, Fred, made a living by pouring concrete forms. It’s impossible to drive more than a few streets in this 40,000-person town wedged between four roads north of Boston without encountering a house or pool designed by Fred Glavine.

Tom Glavine played in the MLB for 22 seasons from 1987 to 2008. He spent the majority of his career with the Atlanta Braves, with whom he achieved his greatest success. During his career, Glavine won two Cy Young Awards, which are given annually to the best pitchers in the National League.

He won his first Cy Young in 1991 and his second in 1998. Glavine was a ten-time All-Star and played a pivotal role in the success of the Braves during the 1990s, helping the team win five National League pennants and the World Series in 1995.

Tom Glavine retired from professional baseball following the 2008 season. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014, further cementing his status as one of the greatest pitchers of his era.
