Alan Arkin was an American actor, director, and screenwriter. Alan was the father of three sons Adam Arkin, Matthew Arkin and Anthony Arkin.

His oldest sons Adam was born in 1956 and Matthew was born in 1960 during his first marriage to Jeremy Yaffe, and Anthony his third son was born in 1967 during his second marriage to Barbara Dana.
All three of his children eventually followed in his footsteps and became actors: Adam Arkin is most recognised for his role as Aaron Shutt on Chicago Hope. He has received multiple nominations for honours, including a Tony, three primetime Emmys, and four SAG honours.

Mathew Arkin attended the HB Studio and studied acting with Uta Hagen, Austin Pendleton, and Sheldon Patinkin. He made his Broadway debut in Neil Simon’s Laughter on the 23rd Floor in 1993 and continued in the production’s national tour.
His third son Anthony is known for his roles in The Americans, Succession (2018) and Madoff (2016). Alan Arkin passed away on June 29 2023. Arkin’s death was confirmed to PEOPLE in a statement by his three sons. “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man,” they said.
“A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.” Despite his death being confirmed, an exact cause was not provided.
