David Reinbacher Parents: Meet his father Harald Reinbacher

David Reinbacher is a professional ice hockey defenseman from Austria who plays for EHC Kloten in Switzerland’s National League (NL).

He is the son of Harald Reinbacher. His father Harold, a special machine construction engineer, has always supported his son’s career. He drove from Lustenau to Kloten and back every day, while David did his homework in the car.

“It was a challenging time,” says the father. Nonetheless, it comes naturally to him. “I promised him that I would support him if he really wanted it.”

In 2019, they relocated from Lustenau to Kloten. Harald and David’s mother are separated. David Reinbacher shares a home with his father, his father’s partner Mengia, and their two children, Norina and Liun. Tobias, David’s older brother, also plays hockey.

Behind the scenes, this blended family has been the biggest source of inspiration for David Reinbacher. The Montreal Canadiens selected David Reinbacher fifth overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Reinbacher began his career in Switzerland with Rheintal and Bülach before moving to Kloten at the age of 15. Reinbacher made his professional debut in the Swiss League during the 2021-22 season after appearing in the junior ranks of EHC Kloten.
