Sean Monahan was a member of the Mississauga Rebels. He captained the Rebels to an OHL Cup title as a 15-year-old in 2010 and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

He is best known for his time with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Flames in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Sean Monahan made his NHL debut with the Flames during the 2013-2014 season and quickly established himself as a skilled centre.  Over the years, Monahan has represented Canada internationally, participating in tournaments such as the IIHF World Junior Championship and the IIHF World Championship.

The NHL Central Scouting Bureau ranked him as the 5th best North American skater in its final ranking while International Scouting Services ranked him 9th overall in his draft class.
