Star actress Vanessa Redgrave became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2022, during the New Year Honours.

In 1967, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), all for her contributions to the film industry.

Redgrave comes from a family of actors. She is “the wife of Italian actor Franco Nero, the mother of actresses Joely Richardson and Natasha Richardson and of director Carlo Gabriel Nero, the mother-in-law of actor Liam Neeson and film producer Tim Bevan.”

Redgrave appeared as Queen Margaret in Richard III (2016). She became famous in 1961, after she played Rosalind in the Shakespearean comedy As You Like It, a role which won her awards.

Some of her acting credits include “A Man for All Seasons, Blowup, Camelot, Dropout, The Devils, Vacation, Murder on the Orient Express, Prick Up Your Ears, Mission: Impossible, Atonement, Letters to Juliet, Coriolanus, Cars 2, and The Butler.”

In 2022, the triple crown award-winning actress played Mrs Higgins in My Fair Lady at the London Coliseum.

Redgrave is currently listed amongst the top 10 greatest stage actor/actress of all time.
