British politician, Margaret McDonagh has been reported dead. According to sources, she died after a long battle with cancer at her home on Saturday, June 24, 2023. She was 61 years old.

Born on June 26, 1961, Margaret McDonagh was educated at Holy Cross School in New Malden and also gained a Bachelor of Science degree at Brunel University London.
She was part of the New Labour leadership inner circle for the 1997 general election campaign and was one of the inner core deciding the official party position on specific issues.

McDonagh became the part’s first female general secretary in 1998, after serving as deputy general secretary the previous year. However, she was considered to have badly mishandled the part’s London mayoral candidate selection process, which resulted in Ken Livingstone winning the 2000 mayoral election as an independent candidate.

She stepped down as the general secretary and took a short business course at Harvard University. She then became the General Manager of Express Newspaper. She was also the non-executive director of Standard Life, TBI plc, and CareCapital plc. She later became the chair of the Standard Life Charitable Trust.
McDonagh was appointed chair of Smart Meter Central Delivery Body in 2013. The company later became Smart Energy GB, an independent organization that aims to inform consumers about smart meters and their national rollout across Great Britain.
