Claude Sarraute was a veteran French journalist and columnist who was also very fluent in English. She began her career in journalism with English newspapers because she had a degree in English. She served as a correspondent for the Sunday Express in 1953, and then as a cultural journalist.

Before that, she attempted acting for years but it was not so fruitful. She was best known for her participation in radio and television programs like Les Grosses Tetes, by Philippe Bouvard, and On a tout tried and On va s’gener hosted by Laurent Ruqueir.

Sarraute was also a well-known columnist with Le Monde, where she took care of the ‘Shows’ section, the Television section for 12 years. She was also in charge of writing daily humor posts under the name “Sur le Vif” – combined in 1985 in the collection Say So! and then a weekly column titled ‘Quelle Historie’
Her death was announced on June 20, 2023. She died at the age of 95, however, no cause of death was disclosed.
