French journalist and columnist, Claude Sarraute has died at the age of 95. Her death occurred on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the age of 95. She was a former contributor to the newspaper, Le Monde. No cause of death was announced, however, she was battling health issues prior to her death.

Born on July 24, 1927, Claude Sarraute began her career as a theatre actress in 1949, however, she abandoned it three years later. She started her career in journalism with English newspapers because she had a degree in English. She served as a correspondent for the Sunday Express in 1953, and then as a cultural journalist.

She eventually became a columnist with Le Monde, where she took care of the ‘Shows’ section, the Television section for 12 years. She was also in charge of writing daily humor posts under the name “Sur le Vif” – combined in 1985 in the collection Say So! and then a weekly column titled ‘Quelle Historie’
Unfortunately, Sarraute took a break from work after the death of her husband, Jean-François Revel in 2006. And also due to health-related issues, she became quite inactive from 2012 up until her old age.
In 2019, she shared that she was finding difficulties in walking, seeing, and hearing. She is set to be buried beside her late husband in Montparnasse cemetery.
