About Mal Meninga

Mal Meninga is the current head coach of the Australian national team, who spent many years playing for Australia and England as a goal-kicking centre.

During his playing career, Meninga had served as captain of the Australian national team for 23 Test matches between 1990 and 1994.

He additionally served as captain of the Queensland State of Origin team for three seasons, where he became a top goal scorer.

Also, Meninga is the only player to be selected for four Kangaroo Tours, and to have captained two Kangaroo tours since the 90s.

After playing for several teams, Meninga retired with several honours to his name.

Upon retirement, he took up coaching and has so far managed the Canberra Raiders, the Prime Minister’s XIII, Queensland, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and World All Stars.

He has coached the Australian team since 2016 and has led the team to many wins, especially in the Rugby League World Cup.
