Mia Wasikowska is an Australian actress. She is the daughter of Marzena Wasikowska and John Reid.

Marzena Wasikowska, her mother, is a Polish-born photographer, and her father, John Reid, is an Australian photographer and collagist. She has a younger brother, Kai, and an older sister, Jess.
Mia Wasikowska and her family moved to Szczecin, Poland, for a year in 1998, when she was eight years old after her mother received a grant to create a collection of work based on her own experience of emigrating from Poland to Australia at the age of 11 in 1974.

Mia Wasikowska’s first acting role was a two-episode stint on the Australian soap All Saints in 2004. She was 15 years old when she was cast in her Australian film debut, Suburban Mayhem (2006), for which she received a Young Actor’s AFI Award nomination.
She gained international recognition in 2010 when she portrayed the lead character, Alice Kingsleigh, in Tim Burton’s adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland.” Her performance in the fantasy film propelled her to global fame.
Since then, Wasikowska has appeared in a variety of films across different genres including “Jane Eyre” (2011), “Stoker” (2013), “Crimson Peak” (2015), and “Tracks” (2013), for which she received critical acclaim.
