Born on March 10, 2000, Kinsey had been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 2023, before he ended his time with the team.

Kinsey played high school basketball at Eastmoor Academy in Columbus, Ohio, where he was named Division II District Player of the Year as a junior.

As a senior, Kinsey averaged 19.5 points per game, and earned the Division II All-State second team honors.
Kinsey began playing college basketball at Marshall University in 2018. In his freshman year, he achieved a career high of 23 points and seven rebounds in a game against Western Kentucky.
The same season, he had also averaged 10.5 points and four rebounds per game.
Kinsey won the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on two occasions and was listed amongst the All-Freshman Team.
As a sophomore, Kinsey scored a season-high 29 points and 11 rebounds in a game against Charlotte. He also averaged 16.4 points, five rebounds and 4.2 assists per game that season.
As a senior, Kinsey was named to the Second Team All-Conference USA, and became the all-time leading scorer in the school’s history.
