English actor and director, Paxton Whitehead has died at the age of 85. His cause of death is not known but it was announced that he died on June 16, 2023.

His television career started in the 1990s when he starred in several sitcoms including Caroline in the City, Ellen, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Drew Carry Show, Mad About You, Friend, Magnum P. I., Murder, She Wrote, Law & Order, The West Wing, Desperate Housewives, and more.

Whitehead started his career as a Broadway actor in the ’80s. He made several appearances in numerous productions like The Apple Cart, Major Barbara, The Philanderer, Arms and the Man, Misalliance, Heartbreak House, Chemin de Fer, and more.

Even after the 90s, he also worked in regional theatre and on Broadway. He began previews of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde on the American Airlines Theatres on December 17, 2020, in the role of Reverend Canon Chasuble. He was also an Associate Artist at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.
