Who is Sam Elliott’s wife Katharine Ross?

Katharine Juliet Ross is an American stage, film, and television actress who is married to American actor Sam Elliott.

The couple began dating and married in May 1984, four months before their daughter Cleo Rose Elliott was born.

They co-starred in the 1978 supernatural horror film The Legacy. They had previously worked together on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and after reuniting on the set of The Legacy.

Katherine Ross made her film debut in Shenandoah (1965), a Civil War-themed drama and had supporting roles in Mister Buddwing (1965) and The Singing Nun (1966).

Ross spent the majority of the 1990s in semi-retirement, but she returned to the screen in 2001 with a supporting role in Richard Kelly’s cult film Donnie Darko.  She has been nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and two Golden Globe Awards.

Elliott and Ross continued to work together on screen after their roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Legacy. The couple has continued to collaborate, appearing in projects such as Travis McGee, Houston: The Legend of Texas, and Conagher, the latter of which Elliott described as “one of the highlights of my career” in an interview with The Oklahoman.
