Jacques Villeneuve was born on April 9, 1971, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. During his early career, Villeneuve travelled with his family in a motorhome during the racing season, a practice he continued to some extent during his Formula One career.

When Gilles was in testing, his son Jacques would go to watch his father climbing a tree as he sped around the circuit, entrenching in him a love for motorsport at a young age. Jacques followed in his father’s footsteps and became a successful racing driver.
