Ruben Studdard is an American singer, songwriter, and actor, famous for winning the second season of the reality TV singing competition “American Idol”.
Born on September 12, 1978, Studdard came into limelight when he appeared on the season 2 of “American Idol” in 2003, and captured the hearts of many with his powerful voice and charming personality.
Following his win, Studdard signed a recording contract with J Records and released his debut album, “Soulful,” in 2003, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and sold over 1.8 million copies in the United States.
Studdard went on to release a second studio album, “I Need an Angel,” in 2004, which ranked number one on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Album.
In addition to music, Studdard has been on various TV shows such as the reality weight-loss competition “The Biggest Loser”, “8 Simple Rules” and “Life on a Stick.”
