Why is Colin Pitchfork being released?

Colin Pitchfork, the man who raped and strangled two teenagers in 1983 and 1986, is set to be released from prison soon. According to sources, there was a private hearing held in April 2023, and the Parole Board decided that Pitchfork might be released soon.

The reports that; “The Parole Board determined that it was no longer necessary for the prediction of the public for Mr. Pitchfork to remain confined and thereby directed his release. This prisoner had committed shocking, serious offenses, causing immeasurable harm to his victims,” the statement said.

The panel noted that Mr. Pitchfork has been in prison for a very long time. His behavior for almost all of that time has not caused any concern… and the evidence before the panel demonstrated that he had learned the lessons that he had been taught and had worked out how to apply them in practice,” the statement added.

Pitchfork was released back in 2021 but went back to jail two months later after breaching the license conditions of his release.
