John Richard Nunge was born on February 20, 1999, in Newburgh, Indiana, United States of America. Jack Nunge was named Evansville Courier & Press All-Metro Player of the Year during his senior year at Castle High.
As a freshman at the University of Iowa, Jack Nunge averaged 5.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. At Xavier University, on December 11, 2021, he posted a career-high 31 points and 15 rebounds in an 83–63 win against Cincinnati.
