Sharda’s age at death: How old is Sharda the singer? – Sharda Rajan Iyengar, an Indian playback singer who was immensely active in the 1960s and 1970s, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the age of 89.

She died at her Napean Sea Road home in Bombay, where she had been battling cancer, according to her son Shammi Rajan.
Born on October 25, 1937, to an Iyengar family in Tamil Nadu, India, Sharda was drawn to music as a child.
Raj Kapoor offered her a voice test early in her career after hearing her singing at Shrichand Ahuja’s mansion in Iran, which set the tone for her musical success.

She got her first big break in Bollywood with the song “Titli Udi” in Suraj (1966) after which she was promoted by Shankar of the Shankar Jaikishan duo.
She collaborated with Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Yesudas, Mukesh, and Suman Kalyanpur, as well as famous ladies like Vyjayanthimala, Sadhana, Saira Banu, Hema Malini, Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, Rekha, and Helen.
She also dabbled in lyric writing before making her debut as a music director in the mid-1970s.
Maa Behen Aur Biwi, Tu Meri Main Tera, Kshitij, Mandir Masjid, and Maila Anchal all featured her song.
‘Andaaz-e-Bayan Aur,’ an album of her own compositions based on Mirza Ghalib’s ghazals, was published in 2007.
