There has been speculation that Nicolas is related to Hall of Fame goalkeeper Patrick Roy. However, Nicolas Roy and Patrick Roy are not related.
While they share the same surname, there is no known familial relationship between them. Nicolas Roy is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Patrick Roy, on the other hand, is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender who had a highly successful career in the NHL, primarily with the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.

Nicholas Roy was selected 96th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Roy had a successful major junior hockey career with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens before turning professional.
Despite being the first overall pick in the 2013 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Entry draft by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, he refused to play for the league unless his rights were traded to a Quebec-based team.
Nicholas Roy represented Team Canada at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships, and the 2017 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
