The late American writer, Cormac McCarthy was known for his graphic depictions of violence and his unique writing style, recognizable by a sparse use of punctuation, and attribution.

He was regarded by many as one of the greatest contemporary American writers. He wrote several books throughout his career; some of them include The Passenger, Child of God, Cities of Plain, The Orchard Keeper, The Counselor, The Gardener’s Son, and more.

McCarthy published his debut novel The Orchard Keeper in 1965. He traveled to Southern Europe, where he penned his second novel titled Outer Dark in 1968, and released his third novel 11 years later – Suttree. He wrote his fifth novel Blood Meridian (1985) after a MacArthur Fellowship enabled him to travel to the American Southwest.
He became a successful and commercial author through his 1992 book All the Pretty Horses, for which he received both the National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Awards.
McCarthy’s final novels are The Passenger – published on October 25, 2022, and Stella Maris – published on December 6, 2022.
