How did Treat Williams get his name? – Treat Williams, an American actor, playwright, and aviator, obtained the moniker “Treat” from one of his maternal relations (albeit not a direct ancestor), Robert Treat Paine, whose signature appears on the Declaration of Independence.

Williams was born on December 1, 1951, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Marian (née Andrew), an antique dealer, and Richard Norman Williams, a corporate executive.

Williams’ maternal great-great-great-grandfather was Connecticut Senator William Henry Barnum, a third cousin of showman P. T. Barnum.

Williams attended the Kent School in Connecticut before attending Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

He made his film debut in the 1975 thriller film Deadly Hero.

The next year, he played a supporting role in The Ritz, a squeaky-voiced private detective looking for his suspect in a gay bathhouse.
