Josie Ingle is a nurse and the first wife of  Tom Stoppard a British playwright and screenwriter. They were married from 1965–1972.

According to reports, his marriage to Jose Ingle is tainted from the start by her mental instability and, later, her alcoholism. She threatened him with a knife and suicidal ideation. He is awarded custody of their children.

Josie Ingle is considered one of the most influential and celebrated playwrights of the 20th and 21st centuries. Stoppard’s works are known for their wit, intellectual depth, and complex themes.

Stoppard’s career took off in the 1960s with the production of his play “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead” (1966), a clever and absurdist take on two minor characters from Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” This play brought him critical acclaim and established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary theater.
