Miriam Stoppard is an English medical doctor, journalist, author, and television presenter. She is the second wife of Tom Stoppard a British playwright and screenwriter.

The former couple were married from 1972 to 1992 and had two sons. One of their sons is the actor Ed Stoppard.
Miriam Stoppard began her medical career at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary and later specialized in dermatology as a senior registrar at Bristol Royal Infirmary. She worked for Syntex as a research director and then as a managing director in the pharmaceutical industry.

During the 1970s and 1980s, she rose to prominence as a television presenter on scientific and medical shows such as Don’t Ask Me and Where There’s Life.
Stoppard has written several books about health, including the Children’s Medical Handbook, but he focuses on women’s health in particular. In the 2010 New Year Honours, Stoppard was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to healthcare and charity.
