Australian professional boxer, Cherneka Johnson has two siblings; one brother and one sister. It is known that she is the eldest amongst her sisters but their ages are not known yet.

Born on March 3, 1995, Cherneka Johnson began her boxing career in the amateur division in 2011 after she moved to Australia. She represented the AIBA World Boxing Amateur Championships and won the 2011 Junior World Championships, came 5th in the 2013 Youth World Champions, and reached the top 16 in the Elite World Championships in 2012 and 2014.

She also won multiple national titles such as three Australian national championships, and three Golden Gloves Championships.
Johnson started her professional career in 2016 when she debuted against Thailand Napaorn Ruengsuwan who was also making their professional debut. Johnson won the fight in the second round.

She fought four matches in 2016 and also had a very successful career in 2017; that year, she fought her last fight against Filipino Boxer Gretel de Paz for the WBA Oceania Bantamweight title. Until 2018, she fought against other fighters including Thailand boxer, Rungnapha Kaewkrachang, and Siriphon Chanbuala.
Johnson had a very successful career in 2019; defeating great boxers like Kirti, Arasa Nimnoi, Nurshahidah Roslie, and more. In 2020, she did not fight due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In March 2021, she fought Shannon O’Connell for the WBA Gold World Bantamweight title. In April 2022, Johnson won a fight against O’Connell by a split decision.
In October 2022, she defended her World title against Susie Ramadan on the Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr II undercard. She won the fight by unanimous decision and went on to become the first Maori World Champion Boxer to successfully defend her world title. In November 2022, she was signed with major boxing promoter Lou DiBella under DiBella Entertainment.
