Fritz’s journey as a referee began at a young age when he joined SV Breuningsweiler at the tender age of six. In 1997, he became a referee for the club and has since officiated matches for SV Breuningsweiler, as well as in the Landesverband Württemberg. In 2006, Fritz achieved the milestone of becoming a DFB referee and quickly climbed the ranks.

In 2012, Fritz earned a spot on the FIFA referees list, which marked the beginning of his international career. He made his international officiating debut in a match between Greece and Turkey during the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship elite qualification.
