Rale Rasic was appointed the head coach of the Australian national soccer team at the age of 34 in 1970. Four years later, he coached the Australian national team to the World Cup.

Sadly, he was sacked by the Australian soccer federation after the world cup. After he was sacked he stated that, the officials took something that no one could do, aside from him.

“They took from me something that I was doing better than anyone else. I was a true-blue Aussie, and nobody can deny that. I taught the players how to sing the national anthem,” he said.
He was in Dole, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Simon Rasic started his playing career in Yugoslav clubs. He played with FK Proleter Zrenjanin, FK Vojvodina, FK Borac Banja Luka, and more. In 1962, he migrated to Australia but returned to Yugoslavia after a year and a half to serve in the army. He came back to Australia to play football in the Victorian Cup.
