After the World Cup, he was sadly sacked for not being an Aussie enough. According to the Australian soccer federation, Rasic was not born in Australia, therefore, he wasn’t fit to coach the national team. He was replaced by English national, Brian Green.

Rasic was born in Dole, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After he was sacked he stated that, the officials took something that no one could do, aside from him.

“They took from me something that I was doing better than anyone else. I was a true-blue Aussie, and nobody can deny that. I taught the players how to sing the national anthem,” he said.

He also played in his home country before moving to Australia. He played for several teams including K Proleter Zrenjanin, FK Vojvodina, FK Borac Banja Luka, and more.
