Denis Kessler obituary – Denis Kessler, a French businessman who served as chairman of the board of directors and CEO of SCOR SE since 2002, has died. Kessler was born on March 25, 1952, and died on June 9, 2023, at the age of 71.

Kessler was generally praised in the industry for steering Scor from the brink of bankruptcy in 2002 to one of Europe’s largest reinsurers – companies that provide coverage to primary insurers.
Scor said its vice-chair, Augustin de Romanet, would chair the board until a new chair was appointed.

Prior to joining SCOR SE, Kessler was Vice Chairman of MEDEF and CEO of AXA.
Kessler has also served on the boards of several significant corporations, including the banking giant BNP Paribas for two decades and asset management Invesco since 2002.
From 1993 until 2010, he was also a member of France’s Economic, Social, and Environmental Council.
Kessler was born in Mulhouse, France, and graduated from HEC Paris before earning a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Paris.
