Who is Denis Kessler? SCOR Chairman and Ex-CEO dies aged 71 – Denis Kessler, a French businessman who was a key participant in the worldwide reinsurance market for the previous two decades, has died. Kessler was born on March 25, 1952, and died on June 9, 2023, at the age of 71.

Kessler had been the chairman of the board of directors and the chief executive officer of SCOR SE since 2002.
Scor said its vice-chair, Augustin de Romanet, would chair the board until a new chair was appointed.

Kessler was born in Mulhouse, France, and graduated from HEC Paris before earning a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Paris.
He served on the boards of BNP Paribas, Bolloré, Dassault Aviation, Invesco, and Fonds Strategic d’Investment.
From 2007 to 2010, he was President of Le Siècle and a member of the Supervisory Board of Yam Invest N.V.
Kessler was generally praised in the industry for steering Scor from the brink of bankruptcy in 2002 to one of Europe’s largest reinsurers – companies that provide coverage to primary insurers.
