Hakan Çalhanoğlu stands tall at the height of 1.78 m (5 feet 10 inches). He plays as an attacking midfielder for Serie A club Inter Milan and the Turkey national team, which he captains.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu made his Hamburg and Bundesliga debut on 11 August 2013, as the team opened the season with a 3–3 away draw at Schalke 04.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored his first goals for the club on 31 August 2013, in a 4–0 home win over Eintracht Braunschweig. After a transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in 2014, Hakan Çalhanoğlu played there for three seasons there, totalling 28 goals in 115 official appearances.

Born in Germany, Hakan Çalhanoğlu opted to play for Turkey. He played for the country at youth international level, including the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup on home soil.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu scored two more international goals in a 4–0 home-friendly win over Bulgaria on 8 June 2015, the latter being a free kick.
Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s first competitive goal came on 10 October 2015, a cross that secured a 2–0 away win over the Czech Republic in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying event.
