Henrik Lundqvist, often referred to by his nickname “King Henrik,” is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender from Sweden. He is the son of Lundqvist and Eva Johansson.

His father Peter took him to see Västra Frölunda HC play in Scandinavium, Gothenburg. His father Peter worked for a company which sponsored Frölunda, and Henrik saw many games in Scandinavium, where Frölunda became his favorite team
Lundqvist spent the majority of his professional career playing for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Over his 15-year tenure with the Rangers, Lundqvist established himself as one of the top goaltenders in the league. He was known for his exceptional athleticism, quick reflexes, and ability to make acrobatic saves.
In December 2020, Lundqvist announced that he would be sitting out the 2020-2021 season due to a heart condition.
In August 2021, he revealed that he would not be able to continue his professional career due to his medical condition. As a result, Lundqvist officially announced his retirement from professional hockey on September 17, 2021.
