Born on February 23, 1927, Thomas W. Sarnoff was born to the CEO and Chairman of the board of RCA, David Sarnoff. However, he started his career in the media as a floor manager at ABC in Los Angeles.

In 1952, he was hired as an assistant to the Director of Finance and Operations and transitioned to become VP of Production and Business Affairs in 1957. He also served as Staff Executive VP West Coast and President of NBC Entertainment Corp., from 1965 to 1977. He was reporting to the President of NBC.

Sarnoff negotiated contracts for NBC’s Burbank studio and production deals with network talents like Bob Hope and Col. Tom Parker on behalf of Elvis Presley’s TV specials.
He was also in charge of the production and worldwide touring of live, all-family arena shows including Peter Pan, Disney on Paradise, and more, and also partnered with Walt Disney Productions.
Sarnoff also created Sarnoff International Enterprises which produced content like the Yabba Dabba Doo live-arena tour that featured Hanna-Barbera characters. He also served as executive producer of three Bonanza TV movies and a retrospective after negotiating contracts for the original Western drama while with NBC.
