BMX Star Pat Casey Obituary

Pat Casey was a 29-year-old former X Games BMX star from Riverside. Pat Casey died after an accident at a motocross track in San Diego on June 6 2023.

Authorities said he crashed his motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon while performing a jump on the ramps at the Slayground Motocross Park in Ramona. He missed his landing and the motorcycle reportedly fell on top of him, police confirmed.

“Deputies and paramedics attempted life-saving measures. However, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a release.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating Pat Casey’s accident and death because it occurred on private property.

Pat Casey began riding professionally at the age of 16, and his favourite place to ride was his own home. Pat Casey won several medals at the renowned X Games. He won medals in 2012 and 2013, as well as gold in 2021.

In addition, the BMX star was recognised as the first rider to successfully perform the decade backflip and double-decade backflip in competition.
