The 2019/2020 saw some improvement in his form. His best result came in the UK Championship, in which he defeated Dominic Dale, David Grace, Eden Sharav, and Li Hang, before losing to the eventual champion Ding Junhui in the quarter-final. Liang also reached the quarter-final of the Gibraltar Open, losing 4-1 to Judd Trump.
