Who manages The Iron Sheik? – The Iron Sheik was managed by “Classy” Freddie Blassie when he teamed with Russian Nikolai Volkoff to defeat The U.S. Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) at the first WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden by knocking Windham out from behind with Blassie’s cane.

Waving the flags of Iran and the Soviet Union, then insisting that the crowd be silent and “show respect” while Volkoff performed a throaty version of the Soviet national song, drew boos from the typically pro-American fans, was part of the pair’s routine entrance.
These shenanigans were all intended (and succeeded) in generating a lot of attention from the audience.

Blassie was a one-time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion and was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1994. He is regarded as one of the greatest wrestling heels, or villains, of all time.
Blassie, who was born on February 8, 1918, retired from active wrestling in 1974 owing to a California rule that barred anyone over the age of 55 from obtaining a wrestling license. His knees were also in bad shape, which contributed to his retirement.
He died on June 2, 2003, at the age of 85, of heart and kidney failure.
