American actor and musician Terrence Howard does not have a PhD. He revealed to GQ in 2013 that he “went to school for chemical engineering and applied materials.” He claimed, however, that he had not completed his degree programme.

These claims have yet to be confirmed. According to reports, the actor attended Pratt Institute, which discontinued its engineering programme in 1993.
Howard made additional claims about his education in 2013. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor claimed to have a PhD in chemical engineering from South Carolina State University (SCSU).

His claims were later refuted when it was revealed that the university does not offer a PhD in chemical engineering and that Howard may have received an honorary doctorate in another field.
Instead, after speaking at SCSU’s 2012 commencement ceremony, Howard was awarded an honorary degree of “Doctorate of Humane Letters” (DHL).
Terrence Howard’s educational background has not been confirmed. Howard was inducted as an honorary member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity in 2010.
